Toddler Bedtime Battles
For the last 1 one/ii years me and my husband have been struggling with bedtime with our 4 year sometime daughter. Yes, yous read that correct – one 1/2 YEARS.
I have to acknowledge as a babe she was the well-nigh astonishing sleeper. So astonishing that we had our son merely 17 months later.
Fast forward to 2.5 years old and things started to alter drastically. Every night when bedtime rolled around she cried. She would sit in her room and scream for hours on end if nosotros allow her (we didn't). Instead, we decided to lay with her until she fell asleep. At present, here we are… at 4 years one-time we are STILL laying with her in her bed every night until she falls asleep (which is often an hour or more).
I decided it was becoming a chip too much. After many failed attempts at tackling this on our ain and searching for answers I came beyond the Boys Town Parenting Electronic mail Series.
Boys Boondocks Parenting offers weekly emails delivered direct to your inbox with tips, tricks and communication for parenting challenges you're currently facing. Topics include toddler tantrums, slumber issues, kids and engineering science and so many more than.
Patently I chose sleep bug although I'm sure I'll exist subscribing to many more than in the near future LOL.
The slumber series focuses on 4 main topics:
- Bedtime Routine
- Fear Of Sleeping
- Dealing With Crying and Refusal to Slumber
- The Sneaky Co-Sleeper
The first topic, bedtime routine, is definitely a difficult 1 for me. With a husband that works what seems like 24/7 it can be hard to continue to a schedule on my own. It was certainly a challenge to implement a routine every single nighttime only then far…. it has helped tremendously.
Instead of going about our nighttime freely we are at present on a set schedule and it all starts with Bath Time! At 5:00 I give the kids a bath. They admittedly LOVE the tub so they are ofttimes in at that place for about a half hour. One time I go them out I let them have some gratuitous play time while I get dinner ready, feed the dogs and become through their school folders.
We eat about vi:00 and and so I let them have a little tv time before we start reading books at 6:45. We read until 7:15 which is when I brush their teeth and nosotros caput upwards for bed. My son goes in his crib and I head to my daughters room to lay with her. Yes, I still lay with her only instead of her goofing around and talking for an hour she is falling asleep inside roughly 15 minutes. It's HUGE progress.
I'm excited to see what tips and tricks will be next in this series. My promise is that by the terminate our bedtime routine becomes enjoyable for all of usa.
Then why Boys Boondocks? Although I appreciate advice from family and friends it's nice to get an outside stance every now and then. Bated from weekly emails Boys Town also offers free tools and printables to help with whatever challenge it is that y'all may be facing. One that I started using is the "Bed Time Pass".
